Still working on a prototype for my idea of a contemporary shawabti.  These  figures, made this month, use porcelain clay, dyed with Mason stains, and imprinted with letters and other decorations. The lettering announces how a shawabti would help you, for example, there is the lettering “I will do all of your work.”

They are fired to cone 5 and are solid clay (so that they have the weight similar to a stone) but they have a 1/4 inch hole that extends along their length (to support their standing).  More to follow as I further develop the shawabti figures.
